Research shows that one in six people in Northern Ireland are facing hunger and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis has placed more pressure on families and individuals than ever before. Even giving a little, can make a huge difference to those who are facing a choice between heating and eating this Christmas.

This year Translink in partnership with FareShare NI, U105 and Belfast Live are asking for your help to collect food items for families, school children, the homeless and those most in need. With your support, we can raise critical donations to support vulnerable people who are struggling.

A Christmas like no other

We’re asking you to make a donation which will support and help families where they need it the most.

To date, the Stuff A Bus campaign has helped more than 100,000 people, and the 2024 initiative arrives at a critical time. This year, donations will be distributed to community groups, schools, hostels, and food banks, providing vital support to communities in need.

Support via your organisation:

By partnering with Translink, your business can serve as a Stuff A Bus donation station, allowing employees to contribute non-perishable food items and monetary donations. FareShare NI will also provide collection bins and handle logistics, ensuring it’s easy and seamless for your organisation and its employees to participate.

Make a donation online:

will provide 35 meals to a homeless hostel

What is Stuff A Bus NI?

Now in its eighth year, Stuff a Bus NI is an award-winning initiative aiming to tackle hunger and bring vital support to those most vulnerable during the festive period. Partnering with Homeless Connect’s FareShare NI programme – and supported by media partners U105 and Belfast Live – this year’s campaign is calling on both businesses and the public to help achieve a target of 30,000 meals donated.

This year, donations will be distributed to community groups, schools, hostels, and food banks, providing vital support to communities in need.

Collection points will be set up at key bus and rail stations, including Belfast Grand Central Station, Coleraine bus and train station, The North-West Transport Hub, and Newry Bus Centre as well as many others. Corporate organisations, businesses of any size and schools a can also register as a Stuff A Bus Partner, with collections made directly by FareShare to make contributing even easier.

The Stuff a Bus appeal comes at a time when the cost-of-living crisis is at peak levels. With more families now facing severe financial difficulties, many of whom have never needed support before and are now finding themselves in need.
