This may be our hardest Christmas yet

Stuff A Bus NI has gone virtual this year because staying apart is the right thing to do. But we need you, our supporters, now more than ever.

It is estimated that over 100,000 children in Northern Ireland live in poverty and as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic it’s likely that by Christmas that number will be even greater. People are facing impossible choices.

Due to current restrictions, the Stuff A Bus NI Toy Appeal will work very differently this year to keep everyone safe. Learn more here

Since 2017, every year we have packed a bus full of toys but this year we need your donations to help thousands of families across Northern Ireland.

Our Goal is to raise £50,000 to buy toys that will be delivered, safely, before Christmas Eve.  Although our bus may be empty this year, please help us ensure no child experiences an empty Christmas.

What will be different?

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a widespread impact on everyone’s lives with isolation and uncertainty sweeping the nation.

This year we won’t be able to hold our finale event where we physically stuff a bus with toys. Our priority is to keep our supporters and you, the public, safe.

We can’t tell you how much we will miss all your faces.

We won’t be able to accept toy donations. To control the spread of the virus we will need you to make a donation. This will allow us to purchase toys on your behalf, making sure they are quarantined before delivering to houses across the country before Christmas Day.

For this year there will be no toy donation points in Translink stations to help do our bit to reduce contact.

What is Stuff A Bus NI?

Stuff A Bus NI is an award-winning initiative started by Translink and U105 in aid of the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul’s annual Christmas Family Appeal, which has been supporting children in Northern Ireland for 40 years by ensuring they have a present to open at Christmas.

Since 2017, every December we pack a bus full of toys, making a difference to thousands of children’s lives on Christmas morning. To date we have donated 50,000 toys and we’re needed now more than ever.

The effects of poverty don’t stop just because it’s Christmas with many families facing the impossible choice to either put food on the table or heat their homes. Christmas presents are the very last thing on their list. And that’s where together we can help.

The Appeal relies on the generosity of local people, Translink passengers, staff and organisations. It comes at a time when there is an increasing level of need as more and more families will likely face financial difficulties this year, who have never needed support before.
